CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021 would be cancelled or not continues to be the biggest worry for lakhs of students. The larger student population as well as parents, medical experts, etc. are hoping for the exams to be cancelled. The board, however, it has been reported is keen to conduct the examinations. Seeking intervention, a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court against CBSE and other 12th Board examinations. The matter would be listed today - May 28, 2021.
Though the PIL was filed a few weeks back, due to the vacation and non-availability of CJI, the matter was pending. However, after requests from senior lawyers, the Chief Justice of India has set up three benches to attend to the applications filed under urgency. The matter for cancellation of CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021, being among them, has been listed for May 28, 2021 – tomorrow.
Students may please noe that the application or PIL has only been filed as yet. The special bench of the Supreme Court of India would assess the request and the various applications. In case the PIL is accepted, it is most likely the CBSE would defer its announcement for the pending Class 12 board examinations. At this point, however, it is all conjecture.
Students from across the country are looking at SC as a last resort. Even though CBSE has not announced its decision as yet, it has been accepted by most that the board is panning to conduct the examinations, albeit in a truncated manner in the month of July.
As for the State Boards, many boards have also announced their decision to conduct the board examinations. West Bengal Government today announced its intent to conduct the WBCHSE 12th Board Exams from second week of July while WBBSE 10th or Madhyamik exams from 2nd week of August.
The case, may, however, change the tide. It is noteworthy to point out that the Supreme Court in 2020 had ordered CBSE to cancel the pending examinations and mark the students on the basis of papers already attempted. This year, however, with no exams conducted, the case may not be as simple. Either which ways, the decision on the pending Class 12 Board Exams 2021 is now closer.
